Angel Food Ministries What is Angel Food? Angel Food Ministries was started in 1994 as a ministry to the local church and community of Monroe, Georgia. It is a Christian-based grocery co-op, providing low cost food to all. Angel Food Ministries is now located in 34 states and helps feed over 500,000 families annually. How Much Does it Cost? The basic box of groceries is $28, a great price considering that the average retail value of the groceries is about $50. Each month's menu consists of both fresh and frozen items. All food is high quality, no seconds, damaged or out-of-date goods, dented cans, or day-old items. Angel Food also offers specialty boxes. Who Can Participate? Anyone can participate in Angel Food. There are no applications or qualifications to be able to purchase groceries, nor are there are limits to the number of boxes that may be purchased. And Angel Food is not just an "SMBC" thing, it is open to the entire community. In fact, we would love to see this become a ministry that reaches well beyond SMBC's walls and into Signal Mountain as a whole. How Does the Program Work? Orders and distribution are taken at SMBC. Orders are processed once a month, and distribution is typically the last Saturday of the month, except for November and December due to the holidays. You may also purchase a box of groceries for others, or donate funds towards a box for others. Due date for March orders is February 17. Distribution day is March 1. Questions? Call JoAnn Lotan, 886-0041.
